There are probably more than a few of my friends who’d consider me odd. It’s possibly my obsession with carrot cake and the fact that I’m really not comfortable with buttons (don’t ask) that could be partly to blame. Regardless, my dear friends have accepted me as I am, bizarre idiosyncrasies and all, without protest (much) and without me having to pay them (bonus).
There are, however, few friendships more odd than Tara and Bella’s, both of whom reside in an elephant refuge in Tennessee (I’ve previously posted about this very cool place. See Refuges for Elephants). Theirs is a friendship that looks past their major differences but also endures a tough time for one of them…
Just another lesson from the animal kingdom the human race would do well to really adopt.

Hi Sami,
I love this story! What a great story of showing it doesn’t matter who we are, or what we look like, or how different we may seem – what matters is really how we feel when we’re together – how a relationship is more than just what we see on the outside, or what we perceive as how a relationship should be. Sami, thanks so much for sharing this – what a great way to start my day!
Hey Lance,
Thanks so much for your great comment (you’re welcome btw). It is a great story and a fantastic example of how to be accepting and non-judgemental. I love how animals have the ability to teach us so much.
What a beautiful and heart-warming story! Thank you!
You’re welcome Laurie and thanks!
Mammals are so cool.
@Dave
Hey Dave. Aint that the truth!
