In the words of Martin Luther King, “I have a dream!”
I know, I know, that’s no surprise to many of you. I realise I do harp on about my Daisy List some what. You all know how much I love my Daisy List. Everyone should have a Daisy List. There’s nothing more kick arse than a Daisy List. Daisy Lists rock! Daisy List, Daisy List, Daisy List. OK, MEDIC! Mood stabilisers for Sami, STAT!
So anyway, I do have a dream…but this one is actually not on my Daisy List. “What?!” I hear you say, “Not on your Daisy List?! How can this be?”
Well…because I forgot to include it. Actually, that’s not entirely true. Number 67 is Run a Successful Business and my goal was to have this particular dream as part of that. A big part of the successful business vision is to give back part of the profits through random acts of aid.
Well, this blog is the business in question, however, it’s annual turnover is…well, let’s just say if we did a share float, I might be able to buy a pen.
But I’m impatient. I wanted to start the random acts of aid now. However, a couple of obstacles presented themselves; 1. I don’t know how to do a share float and $1.65 isn’t going to go far anyway, and 2. Given we’re in the middle of a global financial crisis, I’m fairly sure that most others don’t have a bunch of cash lying around either.
I’m not about to let a couple of pesky obstacles get in the way though, and so was born…
Random Acts of Kick Arse!
Before I explain what this is, I first must introduce a band of Kick Arse Crusaders who are generous enough and crazy enough to be involved and are some of most compassionate people I know. They are fellow like-minded bloggers I very much admire. I figured they’d be up to the task and willing to spread the kick arse.
And they were. So introducing…
Lance from The Jungle of Life
Brandi from Joy Rebel
Lori from Jane Be Nimble
Dani from Positively Present
Melissa from Operation NICE
Here’s how it’ll work; Instead of helping others out in the form of donations, we will be helping others out through acts of service. Each month there will be a theme with the only criteria being that it’ll involve giving back something positive in some way. At the start of the following month we will share with you what we’ve achieved, what lessons we learnt and what the results were.
This month’s theme is kindness. Our mission is to go in search of kick arse ways we can be kind.
By the way, if you’d like to join our Random Acts of Kick Arse crusade, feel free to play along in the comments and let us know what you get up to each month.
And watch this space! In a month’s time we’ll be posting our results.
PS. In the meantime, you really should check out my Daisy List!

Great post, Sami! So excited about RAOKA.
Woohoo!
I havent failed afterall (your swearing habit aside)…. what a great person you are. So too, Lance, Brandi, Lori, Dani and Melissa for kicking arse with you!
Hey Sami,
All right!! You are so awesome, Sami!! And this is just one more way your shining your amazing light into the world! I’m honored to be here and be a part of this, just as I’m honored to know you!
Mum May,
You have done an amazing job of raising this person I call Sami, from a little girl into the fabulous individual she is today! I’m sure she wouldn’t be the amazing person she is today without you (and her father, swearing and all!!) giving her the direction you did early on in life…
Hey Lance, thank you!
@Positively Present
Thanks PP! Stoked to have you onboard!
@Mum May
Aww thanks Mum. And yes, the other guys are amazing human beings for sure.
@Lance
Hey Lance. Thank you so much. Such a lovely comment you’ve left. Yes, I can most definitely say I have the world’s greatest parents. It’s the childhood and parenting they gave me that has been the inspiration behind wanting to give back. I know there are a lot of people out there that aren’t even half as lucky as me so this is my little way of paying it forward.
Hi Sami!
Let the games begin!
As typical, Lance completely took the words right out of my mouth, including his words about your Mum!
You are an amazing force in this world, Sami, and I’m looking forward to seeing ooohh the places you’ll go!
I’m honored to be aboard your mothership.
@Lori
Hey Lori. Yep, let the games begin all right! Thank you so much and right back at you. You’re welcome on the mothership anytime!
I have always loved the word arse!
And good on you treating this blog as a business. Hey, why the heck not! You’ve got a great attitude, that’s the biggest part you need.
And consider me RAOKA too.
Sami! You RAOK(a)!
Count me in! I’m soooo glad I followed the link from Josh’s World’s Strongest Librarian blog to yours.
Fantastic idea Sami! I can’t wait to read about the ideas you come up with.
Supporting you all the way,
K
@Jannie
Hey Jannie. Yes, I did consider using “ass” and then I thought, nah, that’d be unAustralian so went with “arse” instead!
Thanks Jannie. Appreciate your support. And great to have you on board the RAOKA bandwagon!
@Gayze
Thanks Gayze. You RAOK(a) too you know! Love that by the way. Thanks for finding your way over. Stoked to have you here!
@Kirsty
Hi Kirsty, thanks. Your support is always very much appreciated! You rock you know!

xoxo,
lesley

@Lesley

@Mark
Hey Mark, cool! I’ll be in touch with what we’re doing. Thanks for stopping by.
My random acts of kindness are,
make an extra lunch for blind George so he has one for tomorrow.
give my partner a smile just because I want to.
be kind to myself and stop rushing today.
Hmm, what a great idea to randomly be kind and notice when you do.
Will this world finally cannot help itself and become awesome?
@Wilma
