I love a celebration, always have. I’m pretty much happy to celebrate anything – I made the bed, woohoo, let’s celebrate! Look, my herbs are still alive, woohoo, let’s celebrate! I have clean undies, woohoo, let’s celebrate!
My partner Chris and I have had a couple of things a touch more worthy to celebrate recently.
Celebration 1
Chris works as a travel consultant for the company Flight Centre. He’s been in the job for about 4 months and is already making his mark (note: in a sales way, not in a lifting his leg and marking his territory way). He’s currently third top novice in the state (Queensland) and in his third month, exceeded his targets which apparently is uncommon so soon after starting. “Chris made his targets,” I thought, “Woohoo, let’s celebrate!”
For awhile now we’ve been wanting to try a restaurant called The Boat Shed located on the water’s edge of the Maroochydore River, not far from where we live, so I made a reservation and then surprised him with dinner, and of course, wine.
Celebration 2
Our 2 year anniversary. Strangely, it involved another restaurant near the water (a beach), more wine and this time, lunch. Chris ordered the mother of all seafood platters. Seriously, not even Fat Bastard could have finished it.
It’s all too easy to let life’s little wins and meaningful dates slide by but I think it’s really important to take the time to celebrate them. Besides being an excuse to have a glass of wine (not that one really needs an excuse), it’s a chance to pat yourself on the back, have some fun, focus on what’s important, reminisce about important dates, connect with those you love and did I mention wine?
The celebration doesn’t need to involve a helicopter, string quartet and one of the Iron Chefs serving you Duck à l’orange at your own cliff-top, silver service table setting either (although, Chris, just so you know, I don’t like duck). Dinner at a restaurant, night at the movies or a picnic are enough. I prefer experiences to stuff but you could also celebrate with a new pair of matching robes if you prefer.
Oh, I nearly forgot;
Celebration 3
These;

How sweet is Chris? I came into our room to find them on our bed with a little note. Warm tootsies! Woohoo, let’s celebrate!
What was your last celebration? Are you due for more wine, I mean, a celebration?

I love celebrating as well!
There’s no need to have a good reason (although that last one seems like a pretty good reason to me!). The last thing I celebrated was exactly a month ago which means I’m dire need of a celebration. Thanks for reminding me!!
Wow, good on Chris! Exceeding the targets is very uncommon and third top novice – woohoo!!
We recently celebrated our friends having a babysitter (only happens twice a year for them, poor things) and went out to dinner with LOTS of wine (yay for our babysitter too – thanks mum).
We are also about to celebrate something HUGE – our baby is turning 1 next week so there is sure to be wine a flowing for that (for us not her).
Yay for wine (and being able to drink it again!)
Hi Positively Present,
You’re welcome, now get out there and party girl!
Hey Ori,
I know, he’s doing great.
Good to see you guys getting some serious celebrating happening. Also great to see you organising a babysitter and taking some time out for yourselves. So important.
Hey Party Girl (err, I mean Sami),
I just read a lovely post by Sami, woohoo – I’m gonna celebrate!
We have my wife’s sister and family in town over the weekend – we celebrated with drinks, a campfire, and a few rousing games of darts! Woohoo!!
Here’s to many happy celebrations ahead!
Hey Lance,
Haha, nice one. Lance left a lovely comment – woohoo, let’s celebrate!
What a fun post! You are my kind of girl! I’m a big celebrator of the big and not-so-big moments of life. Hence my propensity to break into dance at perhaps odd, inopportune moments (who cares, right?). When little goals have been reached or something has been done well … or sometimes for no reason at all, a little celebrating is in order.
Thank you for sharing your own recent ones. YAY!
Woohoo! I’m smiling, let’s celebrate! I loved reading this post and the comments, and love the reminder to celebrate – with or without wine.
Hey Chania Girl,
Thanks! Love how you break into dance. I actually have my own Flashdance routine (and I’m no Flashdancer let me tell you)! I tend to bust it out at very inopportune times myself and usually wine is involved.
Hi Diana,
You’re welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
