Friday Question

The end of the week question taken from the book If², 500 Questions for the Game of Life by Evelyn McFarlane and James Saywell;

If you could repeat one experience you had with your mate [or a good friend], what would it be?

I didn’t have to think long about this one - walking in through the gates of “The Lost City of the Incas”, Machu Picchu at dawn with Chris. I’m not entirely sure I’d want to re-live the hike in consisting of pouring rain, freezing temperatures, seized muscles and unruly poo though!

What one experience would you like to repeat?

    Great question! So many great things came to my mind when I read this so I’m so glad you posted this question. It really brought a big smile to my face…but I don’t think I can pick just one! :)

    To pick one, i would say to go kayaking 35kms down the Bow River in the rocky mountains, through rapids, still water, picnic on a small beach whilst thinking bears could be close by sniffing out your food, have truckers honking at us from the roads above, meandering through the mountains in the sun, with refreshing drops of water from the paddle cooling you down. After 6.5 hrs of paddling to have your arms shaking and feel ready to fall over but to not regret a minute of it. Unfortunately i am no longer friends with the person i did this trip with but i would definitely do it again with someone else :-)

    Hi PP, the fact you can’t pick just one goes to show you have had a life full of awesome experiences, which is a very good thing!

    Ah the memories. Yep, kayaking the Bow, now that’s a great one I’d be happy to repeat myself (sans the truckers and bears)!

    Oh geez, I dunno if I can just pick one either. I’m with MartYn, the bow river canoe is pretty damned cool…. But Max and I had a fabulous 5 weeks in the USA last year, Florida in particular. But then there was also the very long walk (I like to call it a hike:)) that ended up being through heavy snow to the Chateau Lake Louise, which was also very special…plus…. na, I’ll stop there….see, I just can’t pick one!

    Good question!

    It didn’t take me long to come up with an answer…

    Walking ~20 miles with my husband in San Francisco to go bail our car out of the impound lot on 4th of July weekend, only to find that we had to have an “approved form” from the police station before they’d let us take our car, which was a rental. Then walking back to the police station, back to the impound lot, then to the ATM machine to remove our life savings (almost!!).

    If a couple can get through that without divorcing each other, I think we are set for life! :D It was unbelievably fun to navigate the back woods/cityscape of SF together.

    Nice try at picking just one Vee! Some very cool (in more ways than one) experiences there.

    @Lori
    Hey Lori, you’ve given a very interesting answer. Interesting in the sense that it’s not an experience that most people would consider one they’d like to repeat. What most would consider a negative experience, you’ve turned into a positive one. And yes, you’re right, if you can get through that without divorcing each other, you’re pretty much set!
