The end of the week question taken from the book If², 500 Questions for the Game of Life by Evelyn McFarlane and James Saywell;
If you could have anyone famous in the world stop by for a visit, who would you want
it to be?
For those of you who are regular readers, you’ll know I have a slight obsession with all that is Oprah. In an effort to not sound like a broken record I’m going to choose Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love as my answer. If you haven’t read the book, do yourself a favour – it’s brilliant. Eat, Pray, Love is about “one woman’s search for everything across Italy, India and Indonesia”.
I’d make sure I had some Aussie lamingtons on hand too. Mmmmm lamingtons…

You can also check out Elizabeth Gilbert in this TED presentation on Nurturing Creativity…
What about you? Who would you like to drop by?

I just saw that video a little while back – what a great speaker she is and I will have to get that book. In fact I will do that today. So thanks for the gentle reminder with this great post.
I would really like to speak with Bill Gates. He has always fascinated me and I just think he is a good person from everything I have read about him. As for lamingtons yummo! they look delicious!
Hi Lilly,
Yeah, she is a great speaker – I really enjoyed that presentation. Totally recommend the book. It was one I couldn’t put down.
From what I’ve heard Bill Gates gives loads of money away. Not sure if it’s urban myth or not but apparently he has allocated the majority of his estate in his will to charities.
Oprah!
Keanu Reeves. He’d never get away from me!!!!! Mua ha ha ha…..
This was a rather difficult question for me. I’m not easily impressed. Everyone puts on their pants one leg at a time and everyone defecates. After all, we’re all Humans, with a capital “Huh?”
I thought that having the Dali Lama over might be neat but I think that we would never get past the informal stage; all cool and all but I would like to have the visit be more than shaking hands with a rock star; or in this case, a star monk,,,
So I settled on Bob Dylan. Interesting. Complex. Experienced. He has lived a life. http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/bobdylan
Robert Ringer. He a writer of Winning Through Intimidation, Action!Nothing Happens Until Something Moves, Looking Out for Number One, and the great blog, A Voice of Sanity in a Insane world.
He is an outrageous thinker that is not scared to write his opinions, which is usual against the mainstream media ( His series on School Violence is extremely well thought out.). But he will admit to mistakes and other people views. He seems to be one way then he will show you another side of him you don’t expect. I am sure we would have an interesting conversation.
I don’t know why this question was stumping me, but I really had to think about it for a while…
Since my big focus is fitness and weightloss, I’m going to have to go with Jillian Michaels. I like her kick-ass style + her dedication to Whole Health.
I love Oprah as well however I’ve stopped my obsession with her! Therefore any computer geek can stop by and visit me and then I’d want them to help me do a bunch of changes on my blog. Of course I would want a weekly visit and I would think I was in heaven.
Hey Sami,
I think I would choose Tom Peters. His writing and speaking are always pushing the edge, forward thinking – and so much a message for living life in bright and spectacular ways. Sounds pretty great to me…
@Positively Present
Hey PP, yeah, gotta love her!
@Sami (another one)
Hi Sami,
Haha. All I can say is look out Keanu!
@Tim
So true re how everyone is the same. We definitely lose track of that and get way too star struck. It does seem crazy when you think about it.
Bob Dylan is a great choice.
@Chick J
Robert Ringer sounds interesting. I love a person who is strong enough to express their own opinion (especially if it goes against the grain) but still willing to listen and take on board other points of view. Thanks Chick J!
@Kirwin
Hey Kirwin,
Yeah, Jillian Michaels is totally kick arse. I think I’d be too scared to have her visit, especially if I bring out the lamingtons!!
@Tess The Bold Life
Hi Tess,
Haha, I like it! Great idea. That would be very cool!
@Lance,
Hey Lance,
Yeah, Tom Peters would be awesome to have around! I love his book Reimagine.
Alive: Augusten Borroughs or Carol Burnett would be pretty fabulous to hang out with, I think.
Dead: Annie Oakley or Fanny Bryce.
To drool upon: Hugh Jackman

@Veronica
Haha, I’m with you on the Hugh Jackman drool thing!
hmmm….famous person huh?? Actually, I think I’d go with oprah. I love her too!
@Brandi
Maybe we should get a “Bloggers Love Oprah” group together to visit her show – there seems to be a few of us!
