The end of the week question taken from the book If², 500 Questions for the Game of Life by Evelyn McFarlane and James Saywell;
If you could sit and have a beer with 3 sports figures from any time, who would you pick?
I’d choose;
- Legendary baseballer Babe Ruth because he’s a legend and so I could tell him he has a chocolate bar named after him.
- Natalie Cook, Australian beach volleyball Olympic gold medallist because she’s hilarious and inspirational.
- Phar Lap, famous Aussie racehorse who really was a racehorse from New Zealand who Aussies had pretended was a racehorse from Australia mainly because he was so successful. Not sure he’d be all that fussed with the beer though! I’d take some sugar cubes.
Who would you pick?

Hmm
1. Sir Roger Bannister. The first man to run under a four minute mile.
2. Bobby Fisher. The greatest chess player of all-time. ( I would to like to ask him if he really did play chess again under fake names. And if he ever play chess computers.)
3. Mark William Calaway. (I would like to ask him, how he ever got into the picture, Suburban Commando. He also goes by the name The Undertaker.))
Nice one Chick J. Quite diverse sportsmen.
Uhhhhh…
I don’t know. I’ve been thinking about this one, but I’ve got nothing.
I don’t remember Nothing. What sport did they play? Hee hee.
Hmm here are the first three that spring to mind:
1) Michael Jordan – Being one of the all time great basketball icons.
2)Shayne Warne – He was my inspiration when i was a leg spinner playing for my town.
3) Peter Crouch – A tall thin England football player i can relate to and whos passion i admire.
Now Sami im hoping that you could make one of these beer drinking sessions happen with one of my choices using all your Australian contacts in the cricket world
Ooo, Michael Jordan is a good one. MartYn, you know I’d be happy to make use of the extensive and vast list of contacts I have in the Australian cricket world, if only I knew who they were.
1. Its definitely Michael Jordan for me too.
2. Dawn Fraser (an Aussie swim star who won gold in three olympics)
3. Imran Khan (a hot Pakistani cricket player turned politician)
Dawn Fraser is a good one too Lilly. Great sportswoman and a character!
YAY!! You’re up and running! Missed you…
Thanks Kirwin! It’s been a rather challenging week. My whole account including a back up I’d done was gone from the server and couldn’t be restored. I have a techie who does all the techie stuff and thank god she’d been backing the site up daily (worth her weight in gold). Just missing the last post I did and all the photos which I’ll be restoring over the next couple of days. V glad to be back!!
