So I’ve officially started #42 on the Daisy List, spend 3 months getting my body into shape. It started with a bang and not of the pleasurable kind. More of the “Lord take me now” kind – a personal training session. I’ve never used a personal trainer before and I was scared right from the get go. I was scared because during the phone conversation I had with him prior to my session he mentioned he’d work me so hard that not only would I need to crawl to the door when I was finished but that it was likely I’d spew.
Now, from my marketing background I know that if you want to sell anything you need to remove all purchasing obstacles in order to have the consumer buy whatever you are selling. In my book, crawling and spewing are somewhat large obstacles to buying anything except vodka. Call it stupidity or denial I bought anyway.
Let me tell you, I had good reason to be scared. Whilst I didn’t spew, I did nearly faint…3 times. On 2 occasions, it was necessary to lie down whilst my trainer, shall we call him, Captain Agony, held my feet in the air. Apparently the dizzy spells were due to the fact that my body isn’t used to ridding itself of lactic acid. It seemed to be more comfortable ridding itself of its ability to look cool or stand upright.
I’ve never heard sweeter words than when Captain Agony, who incidentally, is a cross between a not so cutesy version of the Energizer bunny and the commander dude in the movie, Top Gun who yells, “Maverick, your ego is writing cheques your body can’t cash!”, finally announced, ”We’re done.” And done I was, much like overcooked spaghetti. At least I don’t need to eat any vegetables because I have become one. The hilarious part; I actually paid good money for this vegetative state!
End date for completion of #42. Spend 3 months getting my body into shape: Not bloody soon enough!
By the way, feel free to share your “getting fit” stories, the more embarrassing the better – it’ll make me feel less uncool!

Oh dear I am a couch potato. I need a Captain Agony in my life. you are inspiring me to follow suit.
Hey Lilly,
Glad to be of service, although, you will end up cursing me if you do go ahead!! Thanks for stopping by.
Sami
Good for you!! Sady, the only thing in shape on my body is my elbow from lifting those pints of beer.
Lol. Yep, I have pretty strong elbows myself. Strangely, they aren’t sore unlike the rest of my body!
Sami, you are doing great already and who knows Captain Agony probably agrees
)
He better bloody agree, given the amount of pain he’s putting me in! And as sick as it is, he’s enjoying every minute of it!
Wow, girl you must be a glutton for punishment! My hat is off to you for putting yourself through this for 3 months. The good part is it will get easier after a week or two. But personally I don’t want no cats like captain agony in my sand box. That just sounds like to much of a pain. Besides that I’m already in shape if round is still a shape. LOL
Here’s to 12 ounce curls and keeping those elbows strong.
It’s hard to believe considering I nearly fainted, but it’s actually gotten easier already. Strong elbows AND a 6 pack, here I come (or maybe a 2 pack)!
As a trainer myself, i can appreciate the “other” side and I’ll consider keeping your experience in mind when working with my clients! Hope it is going well for you! Good luck! Let me know if I can help at all!
Hi Jon,
Haha! Yeah, it’s sometimes painful on the “other side” but I’m sure you guys are pretty familiar with pain. Besides, for all my whingeing, I’m seeing results and totally have a huge high after each session so it really is worth it. Thanks for stopping by. Great to have you here. Oh, and I will be posting an update soon.
